Hilton Head area golfers Garret Fader and Lexi Milbrandt swept the Jimmy Self Invitational on Sunday.

Fader won the boys’ division while Milbrandt won the girls crown in the tournament played at Palmetto Dunes’ George Fazio Course.

“I didn’t come out here today with any crazy expectations,” Fader said after the tournament. “I just wanted to make sure I was around even-par and give myself a chance at winning. It feels really great to put three rounds together and be the champion.”

Fader trailed second-round leader James Rhodes by four shots heading into Sunday’s final round. But he shot a 1-under 69 for his first South Carolina Junior Golf Association win.

Fader finished with a 212 for the three-day event, winning by three shots over Rhodes and Bluffton’s Luke Block.

In the girls’ division, Milbrandt led wire-to-wire to win the championship. She shot a 76 in the final round to finish with a 225, winning by three shots over Emerson Devers.

It was Milbrandt’s first SCJGA win.

“It wasn’t too crazy of a round for me today,” Milbrandt said. “I played smart the whole time and didn’t take many risks. It feels good to be the champion. This is my first SCJGA win, so I’m really happy and excited about that.”
