Hilton Head Christian, Hilton Head Prep basketball headed to state title games
The Hilton Head Christian girls moved a step closer to another state championship while it will be an all Lowcountry matchup for the SCISA 3A boys title.
HHCA won their 26th game of the season after defeating Pee Dee Academy, 54-24, in the SCISA 3A semifinals on Wednesday night. The Eagles advance to Friday’s championship game and will play Shannon Forest, which beat Orangeburg Prep 33-31. The game is set for 5 p.m. at the Sumter Civic Center.
Hilton Head Christian is going for its fifth straight state championship.
Tamya Hutchinson led Hilton Head Christian with 25 points, and Morgan Scott had 12 points. The Eagles outscored Pee Dee, 26-12, in the second quarter.
On the boys side, it will be Hilton Head Christian and Hilton Head Prep in the finals after the two teams rolled to double-digit wins. HHCA defeated Shannon Forrest, 71-58, while Prep defeated Christian Academy, 49-34.
The championship game is set for 6:30 p.m. on Friday at the Sumter Civic Center.
Isaiah Anderson led five Hilton Head Christian players in double figures with 19 points. Harrison Skinner scored 13, Elijah White had 11 while Qayden Turner and Maciah Hamilton each had 10. Turner led the Eagles with 20 rebounds.
In Hilton Head Prep’s win, Sean Cusano led the way with 19 points. Kane Eans added 12 points and Ben Frey scored 10.
This will be the third meeting of the season between Hilton Head Christian and Hilton Head Prep. They split the two regular-season meetings. HHCA won 57-47 (OT) on Jan. 20 and Hilton Head Prep won, 53-41, on Feb. 10.
