Lowcountry hoops teams advance in SCISA playoffs, wrestlers qualify for state
It was a good start for Lowcountry teams in the SC Independent School teams on Monday.
Hilton Head Christian boys and girls, Hilton Head Prep boys and Beaufort Academy girls all won their quarterfinal games.
John Paul girls saw its season come to an end.
▪ Hilton Head Christian 50, Pee Dee Academy 38: The Eagles used a 20-9 third-quarter to defeat PDA in the SCISA 3A boys playoffs. Isaiah Anderson had 17 and Qayden Anderson had 13 in the win. Anderson also pulled down 12 rebounds. HHCA will play Shannon Forest at 8 p.m. on Wednesday in the semifinals at Sumter Civic Center.
▪ Hilton Head Prep 63, Florence Christian 49: The Dolphins are moving to the SCISA 3A semifinals after a win over the Eagles. HHP will face Christian Academy on Wednesday at 5 p.m. at Sumter Civic Center.
▪ Hilton Head Christian 55, Florence Christian 18: The HHCA girls’ quest for another state championship continued with a blowout win in the SCISA 3A quarterfinals. HHCA will play Pee Dee Academy at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Sumter Civic Center.
▪ Beaufort Academy 54, Clarendon Hall 27: Beaufort Academy jumped out to a 19-2 first-quarter lead on its way to a win in the SCISA 2A quarterfinals. The Eagles will play Patrick Henry in the semifinals at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at Wilson Hall.
▪ Pee Dee Academy 42, John Paul II 37: The Warriors’ season ended on Tuesday in the SCISA 2A quarterfinals. Lily Termini led JP2 with 11 points and nine rebounds. Cayce Graves added 10 points.
Beaufort boys’ season ends
The Beaufort boys’ season came to an end on Tuesday with a loss to Orangeburg-Wilkinson, 61-39, in the Class 3A playoffs.
The Eagles finish their season at 12-10. Michael Dennison led the team in points and rebounds.
Area wrestlers qualify for state championships
The SC High School League Upper and Lower State individual wrestling championships were held over the weekend.
