Hilton Head Prep second, Hilton Head Christian third in SCISA golf tournament

The Hilton Head Prep boys golf team finished second and Hilton Head Christian was third this week at the SCISA boys golf tournaments at Coastal Carolina.

Hilton Head Prep was second in Class 3A with 457, three shots back of Trinity Collegiate. The Class 3A tournament was shortened to 27 holes because of rain. Porter-Gaud’s Rowan Sullivan was the medalist with a 111.

Tag Graziano led HHP with 114 and was followed by Jeep Patrick (115), Cade Kriscunas (115), Garret Felder (116) and JP Carr (120). The Dolphins had a strong season and shot a a record 282 to win the region tournament

Hilton Head Christian, the defending state champions, finished third in the 2A championship with a score of 637. Orangeburg Prep and Spartanburg Christian tied for first with a score of 629. OP’s Harris Holstein was medalist with a 143.

HHCA’s Sage Bradshaw was second at 146. The rest of HHCA golfers were Sean Engler (156), Hudson Buck (159) and Phillip Court (189).

John Paul II was 11th. Gabe Schmitz led the way and was third overall with a 150.

In Class A, Heritage Academy was third with a 650 and Holy Trinity fourth at 689.Sam Hopkins led Heritage with a 151 and Barnes Gooding (161) was tops for Holy Trinity.

Cambridge Academy won the Class A title with 608 and CA’s Spence Hagood was medalist at 140.

Lowcountry teams in SCHSL playoffs

Two Lowcountry teams qualified for SC High League boys tennis playoffs.

Hilton Head Island started its postseason with a 6-0 win over West Florence in the Class 4A playoffs. The Seahawks will play at South Aiken in the second round.

Region 7-4A champion Beaufort had a bye in the first round and will host Aiken in the second round on Thursday.
