Hilton Head Christian girls move step closer to another state championship

Hilton Christian moved one win away from its fourth straight state championship on Thursday night.

Tamya Hutchinson scored 13 points to help the Eagles past Palmetto Christian in the SCISA Class 2A semifinals at Sumter Civic Center.

HHCA will play Orangeburg Prep at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Sumter Civic Center. Orangeburg Prep prevented an all-Lowcountry championship by defeating Beaufort Academy, 57-23, in the other semifinal.

Skylar Smith added nine points for HHCA, all coming in the first quarter. Abby Peduzzi chipped in with eight.

In the other semifinal Campbell Delaney led Orangeburg Prep with 13 points and Laine Grubbs had 12.

Mary Hanna Hiers led Beaufort Academy with six points and Tahleea Heyward had five.
