College football might be finished for the season, but there’s one more bowl game left for the Lowcountry.

High school seniors from South Carolina and Georgia will match up Saturday in the fourth annual Blitz Border Bowl, hosted by WSAV in Savannah’s Memorial Stadium.

Team Lowcountry will be helmed by Beaufort High School’s head coach Bryce Lybrand, who led his team to an appearance in the 2021 Class 4A state championship game.

They’ll play against Georgia’s Team Coastal Empire, led by Kyle Hockman of Savannah’s New Hampstead High School.

Battery Creek High School’s band will perform the halftime show.

Tickets to the game are on sale now for $10 each online. Proceeds will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire. The game will also air live on WSAV at noon on Saturday.

Dan Flaxer, the station’s creative services director, said Tuesday that this year’s game has sold three times more tickets than any of its predecessors so far.

“The most important thing we can do for this is fill the stands to help the Ronald McDonald House Charities,” he said.
