Hilton Head Island boys, Beaufort girls pick up region wins Friday night
Hilton Head Island used a big second quarter to defeat Beaufort, 76-68, in boys high school basketball action Friday.
The Seahawks outscored the Eagles, 24-12, in the second to move to 2-0 in region play. Dean Seelbach led HHI with 19 points and Alex Smith scored 15.
Jamaad Rivers had a game-high 26 points for Beaufort. Zyrin Odom added 14.
Ridgeland-Hardeeville 58, Battery Creek 33
Brandon Howard scored as the Jaguars moved to 2-0 in region play with the win.
Mauriq Singleton added 10 for R-H.
Jaeon Allen led the Dolphins with 11 points and Amoni Waring had 10.
John Paul II 62, Hilton Head Christian 50
Reco Anderson led five JP II players in double figures with 15 points in the road win.
CJ Knight added 13 points, eight rebounds while Malone Kinard Huisinger, Jackson Ogden, and Jeremiah Young each chipped in with 10.
Floyd Hargrove led HHCA with 22 points.
Beaufort Academy 72, Colleton Prep 36
Three BA players were in double figures in Friday’s win.
Dawson Coleman led the Eagles with 16 points. Thomas Holladay scored 15, and Braxton Tolbert had 12.
Bethesda 67, Hilton Head Prep 45
Bethesda annded the Dolphins their first region loss on Friday.
Tyrone Calloway led the Dolphins with 13 points.

Whale Branch 61, Barnwell 47
Wofford signee Nick Pringle scored 20 points and Shemar Williams added 19 in the Warriors’ region win.
Girls Basketball
Beaufort 42, Hilton Head Island 38
Layla Warren had 13 points and Sequioa Smalls scored 11 as the Eagles evened their region record at 1-1.
Miley Ray and Kenzie Ryan each had 13 to lead HHI.
Bluffton 27, Colleton County 16
The 10th-ranked Bobcats turned in their best defensive effort of the season to stay atop the Region 7-4A standings.
Tatyana Aiken led Bluffton with 14 points.
Beaufort Academy 55, Colleton Prep 16
Mike’Ala Washington had a game-high 16 points in the Eagles’ victory.
Tahleea Heyward added nine and Amelia Huebel for BA, which moved to 11-1 overall and 3-1 in region play.
Hilton Head Christian 63, John Paul II 33
Tkai Devore proved led JP II with 20 points and eight rebounds.
Ridgeland-Hardeeville 46, Battery Creek 45
Imani Patterson hit the game-winning shot late in overtime to give R-H the victory.
Starr Reed led Battery Creek with 12 points.

Amelia Huebel had 17 and was one of three players in double figures for BA.
