Bluffton, Hilton Head Island sweep, Beaufort and May River hoops split

Jamaad Rivers led three Beaufort players in double figures as the Eagles defeated May River, 69-59, on Tuesday in boys basketball action.

Rivers finished with 26 points while Oliver Holmes had 17 and Ben VanHise 12.

Hilton Head Island 70, John Paul II 36

Gaston Moore scored 20 points as the Seahawks defeated the Warriors.

Reco Anderson led JPII with 12 points and three steals. Malone Kinard Huisinger added 10 points and six rebounds.

Hilton Head Prep 72, Thomas Heyward 41

HHP ran its record to 8-2 with a region against Thomas Heyward.

Tyrone Calloway led the Dolphins with 24 points and Stone McDonald contributed 17 points.

The Dolphins jumped to a 28-9 first-quarter lead and stretched that to 42 -11 at the half.

The Dolphins play Memorial Day at home on Thursday night.

Bluffton 52, Battery Creek 29

Bluffton jumped out to a 27-9 lead in the win over the Dolphins.

Tyler Rice led Bluffton with 18 points.

Hilton Head Christian 44, Beaufort Academy 38

Floyd Hargrove scored 18 points as HHCA won its region opener of Beaufort Academy.

The two teams combined for 40 points in the first three quarters but had 42 in the fourth. HHCA outscored BA, 22-20, in the final quarter.

Dawson Coleman led BA with 16 points.

May River 49, Beaufort 21

May River outscored Beaufort 18-2 in the fourth quarter to pull away for the win Tuesday night.

Olivia Peluso led the Sharks with 11 points and Emma Peluso had seven.

Layla Warren led Beaufort with 11 points.

Hilton Head Island 43, John Paul II 35

Hilton Head extended its winning streak to four games and handed John Paul II its first loss of the season.

Miley Ray led the Seahawks with 16 points, followed by Kenzie Ryan eight points, Janiya Ferebee seven and Anna Genova six points.

Tkai Devore led the Warriors with 10 points and 18 rebounds.

Bluffton 58, Battery Creek 22

Tatyana Aiken scored 15 points, had 10 rebounds and six steals while Samari Mitchell had 14 in Bluffton’s win.

Aiken also had four blocks. Tacoya Heyward added 13 for the Bobcats

The Bobcats (12-1) led 33-7 at halftime.

Hilton Head Christian 67, Beaufort Academy 35

Dior Shelton scored a game-high 26 points as HHCA handed BA its first loss of the season.

Jasmine Campbell added 15 points, Brielle McCarthy had 10 and Skylar Smith had nine for the HHCA, which improved to 13-2.

Mike’Ala Washington led Beaufort Academy with 16 points.

Thomas Heyward 28, Hilton Head Prep 27

Keleigh Bowers and Bayli Belger each had nine points in the Rebels’ win over the Dolphins.

Ella Clark led the Dolphins with 10.
