Bluffton girls win tournament title. Seahawk Holiday Classic gets started

The Bluffton girls basketball captured the YC Winborn championship in Rock Hill on Saturday.

The Bobcats defeated host Rock Hill, 58-46, to win the tournament title.

Bluffton, which trailed by 13 points at halftime, outscored Rock Hill 27-10 in the third quarter to take a 37-33 lead.

Bluffton’s Tatyanna Aiken was named the tournament MVP and Tocoya Heyward was an all-tournament selection. Heyward had 34 points in the title game and Aiken 16.

Chapman 43, Hilton Head Island 39

Hilton Head fought back to take the lead in the second half after trailing at halftime by seven points, but their surge wasn’t enough as Chapman defeated Hilton Head in the firstt round of the Seahawk Holiday Classic.

Miley Ray led the Seahawks with 13 points. Asia Anderson had 23 for Chapman.

The Dolphins trailed for most of the game; 21-15 in the first quarter, 39-35 at the half, and 68-63 going into the fourth quarter before winning Friday.

The Dolphins outscored Habersham 24-10 in the fourth. Tyrone Calloway led the comeback with a team-high 35 points. Stone McDonald added 20 points.

Whale Branch 47, Ridgland-Hardeville 34

Nick Pringle scored 14 points in Whale Branch’s win Friday.

Rashard Baker led R-H with nine points.
