Roundup: John Paul II, Battery Creek, Hilton Head pick up hoops victories
Battery Creek used a 10-2 run in the third quarter to defeat Hilton Head Island, 37-36, on Wednesday in girls basketball action.
Hilton Head led 25-18 at halftime before the Dolphins made a comeback. Coresha Rutledge led Battery Creek with 11 points.
Mackenzie Ryan led the Seahawks with 14 points, eight rebounds and six steals. Janiya Ferebee added a career-high 12 points.
John Paul II 51, First Presbyterian 13
Tkai Devore had a double-double and Katie Leigh Floyd had a strong night from the outside as John Paul II moved to 7-0.
DeVore had 11 points, 15 rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Floyd added 12 points and was 4-of-4 from three-point range. Abby Quinty scored seven points and had six rebounds.

John Paul II 50, First Presbyterian 20
JPII jumped out to a big lead and cruised to a win over First Presbyterian.
Mark Knight led the Warriors with 16 points and Jeremiah Young had 10 points and four assists.
Malone Kinard Huisinger added six points and eight rebounds.
Hilton Head Island 60, Battery Creek 46
Hilton Head Island used a 19-10 second quarter to defeat the Dolphins.
Sam Summa led the Seahawks with 16 points and Jaylen Sneed had 11.
Obie Wilson led Battery Creek with 13 points.

Gudaitis wins Savannah Bridge Run
HHI’s Cynthia Gudaitis won the Savannah Bridge Run over the weekend.
Gudaitis finished with a time of 20:37 to win by 15 seconds. She finished ninth last month and earned all-state honors at SC High School League state cross country meet.

May River defeats Lowcountry foe
May River won its first dual match of the season with a 54-18 win over Beaufort.
May River winners were Gabriel Juarez, Anthon Funderburk, Chad Hadden (126), Wyatt Banfield, Noah Creque, Kailin Prescott-Ferguson Travis Tran, Isham Peace, CJ Ciccarelli, and Patrick Treacy
Beaufort winners were Jeremiah Simmons (170), Matthew Durrance (145) and John Legree (195).
The Sharks, who finished seventh last week at the Shark Classic, will wrestle in the Cane Bay Duals over the weekend.
