High School roundup: Beaufort Academy hoops teams win BA Classic
Tournament MVP Dawson Coleman scored 22 points as Beaufort Academy defeated Bridges Prep, 66-52, to win the second annual BA Classic on Saturday.
Brandon Trapp added 16 points and Elijah Fess had 11. Trapp made the all-tournament team along with teammate Thomas Holladay. Bridges’ Josh Smith and Colten Duren made the all-tournament.
The Eagles travel to Clarendon Hall on Monday to take on the defending SCISA Class A state champs.
Battery Creek 53, Bluffton 45
Battery Creek picked up its first win of the season against Bluffton.
Jordan Rivers led three Dolphin players in double figures with 13. Amoni Waring had 11, and Daviyone Sanders 10.
Tyler Rice led Bluffton with 11.

Beaufort Academy 53, First Presbyterian 14
Amelia Huebel went over 1,000 points in her career to help the Eagles win the BA Classic.
Huebel’s milestone came in the first quarter and she finished with a game-high 17 points. Mike’Ala Washington added 15 for Beaufort Academy.
Hilton Head Island 30, Oceanside Collegiate 21
The Seahawks moved to 3-0 for the first time since 2010 with a road win at Oceanside Collegiate Academy.
Despite missing the first quarter because of SAT testing, Miley Ray led the Seahawks with 15 points.Through three games, the Seahawks defense has held opponents to single digits in 10 of the 12 quarters.
Kennedy Rhue led the Oceanside with seven points.
Bluffton 52, Battery Creek 33
Bluffton moved to 3-0 with a win over BC.
Tacoya Heyward led the Bobcats with 18 points. Tatyana Aiken added 11.
Wrestling
May River Classic
Five Lowcountry wrestlers won championships Saturday as the May River Classic wrapped up.
Beaufort had three champions on its way to fourth-place finish in the event. James Dagin won the 160-pound class, Michael Cenci in 171 and Jeremiah Simmons at 195.
May River’s Isham Peace won the 113-pound title and Bluffton’s Cam’ron Darby won 285 division.
Cane Bay won the overall championship.
