Lowcountry wrestling teams begin postseason this weekend
Hilton Head, Battery Creek, May River and Whale Branch wrestling teams get ready for the postseason which begins Saturday.
Hilton Head, a No. 3 seed, will head to Chapin and wrestle Myrtle Beach in the Class 4A playoffs. The winner of that match faces defending Lower State champion Chapin later in the day
In Class 3A, region champion Battery Creek has a bye in the first round and faces Gilbert-Loris winner at home Saturday. May River, a No. 2 seed, travels to Swansea and faces Bishop England in the first round. The winner of that match faces the Swansea-Georgetown winner in the second round later that day.
Whale Branch, a No. 6 seed, travels to Marion.
The third round of the playoffs are Tuesday and Lower/Upper State finals set for Thursday. The state dual championships are Feb. 10 at Airport High School in Columbia.
In addition to the SCHSL wrestling playoffs beginning, the SCISA dual wrestling championships will be Saturday at Ben Lippen High School in Columbia.
