John Paul II hoops splits with Memorial Day

Tkai Devore had 15 points, five rebounds and five steals for John Paul II in the 37-4 win over Memorial Day on Monday in girls basketball action.

Jasmine Hamilton added seven points and Ayannah Thompson had four points, six rebounds and five steals.

Boys

Memorial Day 62, John Paul II 44

Rashad Battiste and Amere Cherry led the Golden Warriors with 16 points each in the loss.

WRESTLING

Hilton Head places third

On Friday and Saturday, the Hilton Head Island wrestling team competed in the Rebel Invitational at Effingham High School, Ga. The Seahawks, as a team, placed third in a field of 20 teams.

Out of the 12 wrestlers that competed for the Seahawks, eight reached the podium. Billy Christie (170) and Alex Braden (145) both claimed individual championships. Kyle Riddle (126) lost in the championship match and placed second. Finishing third were Rawlin Szewczyk (120 ) James Roberts (138) and Marcos Sosa (182 ). Finishing fourth was Elihu Torres (195) and finishing fifth were Jesus Catalan (106) and Ethan Meselam at (113).
