High school softball playoffs: Beaufort vs. Lower Richland

Beaufort 18, Lower Richland 0: Essence Champion homered and drove home three runs, while Caroline O’Hara produced four RBIs as the Eagles scored in every inning of their Class 4A playoff opener.

Mary Claire Sumner held Lower Richland to one hit over four innings of pitching, throwing 35 strikes in 38 total pitches. Emily Cook tossed the final inning for Beaufort, which travels to St. James for a Saturday game in the Class 4A winners’ bracket.
