Valspar-winning Malnati looks ahead to RBC Heritage and calls the tournament ‘amazing’

Shortly after winning the 2024 Valspar Championship at Innisbrook Resort’s Copperhead Course in Palm Harbor, Florida, on Sunday, Peter Malnati shared some thoughts about his newfound eligibility to play in the PGA Tour’s upcoming signature tournaments, including the RBC Heritage at Harbour Town Golf Links.

Malnati called the upcoming RBC Heritage tournament “amazing.”

At the Copperhead course, he carded a 4-under 67 in the final round on Sunday to claim his second PGA Tour victory, $1.51 million, and his first win in nine years.

“We’ve put an emphasis, and rightfully so, on prioritizing getting the top players in the world to play together more often,” Malnati said during his post-round press conference. “Right now I’m 16th in the world in the Fed-Ex Cup, and I’m going to have a strong handful of opportunities in those fields.

“To be in those is incredibly meaningful because, first of all, they’re some of my favorite tournaments. I get to go play Hilton Head. Hilton Head, next to this golf course (Copperhead), is one of the most challenging courses that we play all year, and it’s one that I look forward to going to each and every year, so knowing that I might not have been there this year was motivation to play really well and work hard and try to get there. And now I’m there, and it’s amazing.”

Players will begin the scheduled four rounds of the 56th annual RBC Heritage on Thursday, April 18.
