Hilton Head Prep alum reaches U.S. Women’s Amateur match play

Former Hilton Head Prep standout Anita Uwadia earned a berth in the match-play bracket of the U.S. Women's Amateur, finishing tied for 39th after Tuesday's second round of stroke play at Springfield, Pa.

Uwadia followed up Monday's opening 2-under-par 69 with a 75 at Rolling Green Golf Club, leaving her three strokes above the cut line. The Nigeria native and incoming South Carolina freshman will open match play Wednesday against Nebraska's Danielle Lemek.

IJGA alumna Clementina Rodriguez, a member of Washington's national champions last May, failed to advance to match play following rounds of 77-76. Former Bluffton resident Sophie Guo, who moved to Orlando earlier this year, tumbled drastically with an 82 that featured 10 bogeys and a double bogey.
