What’s your favorite golf hole in Beaufort County? Help us build our fantasy course
When Arnold Palmer won the inaugural Heritage golf tournament in 1969, Hilton Head Island became synonymous with the words golfing destination.
These days, locals and visitors can choose from dozens of publicly accessible courses across Beaufort County to play a little money game or simply to post a lower score than last week’s round. And Hilton Head is one of the special places annually where golf fans can watch the pros show us how it’s done (or not done, in some cases.)
From North of Broad locations such as the Legends Golf Course on Parris Island to the south end of Hilton Head and Harbour Town Golf Links, and at courses beyond and between, players of all skill levels will be perfecting their swings on any given day, no matter the weather.
With all the choices available, we wondered: If we could put together the county’s favorite 18 holes in one course, what would that look like? It would be picturesque, with tended greens and convenient amenities. But it also would be challenging enough to stay interesting, the kind of holes you’d want to play again and again.
What is your favorite hole of golf in Beaufort County? We’ll use your answers to build our fantasy course.
Tell us what you think using our nomination form. If you are reading this in our print edition, you will have to go to islandpacket.com and find the digital version of this story to participate.
We are limiting nominations to Beaufort County, so that means nothing in Hardeeville or Ridgeland counts, no matter how special they are. We also are only accepting nominations for courses the general public can access without having to be invited by a community resident or member.
Because we aren’t limiting the number of times one person can submit a nomination, this poll should not be considered scientific. It’s just for fun!
The 18 golf holes with the most nominations will be featured soon on islandpacket.com.
Editor’s note: We’ve extended the deadline for nominations!
