Former Hilton Head Prep standout Sophia Burnett captured her second Women’s South Carolina Association Golf Association Amateur championship on Wednesday.

Burnett shot a 74 in the final round for a three-day total of 218 to win by one shot over Raegan Propes on the Ocean Course at the Fripp Island Club. Burnett’s sister, Camila Burnett, finished third with a 222.

This is Sophia’s second championship. She won the 2021 championship.

Last year, Burnett finished second at Fort Jackson Golf Club after her birdie putt on the final hole to force a playoff lipped out.

Burnett helped HHP to three state championships in high school before going to play at Furman. She transferred to South Carolina last year.

Burnett shot an opening-round 69 and trailed by one shot before taking the lead in round two. In her final round, she had three birdies.

Other division winners were Catherine Shealy (State Division), Laura Davis (Palmetto Division) and Anne Washington (Super Senior).
