USC golfer wins individual title at Darius Rucker Intercollegiate on Hilton Head.
Louisiana State University (No. 6) won the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate golf tournament this week at Long Cove Club on Hilton Head Island.
Mathilde Claisse with the University of South Carolina took home individual trophy.
The 11th annual Darius Rucker Intercollegiate ran Monday through Wednesday. It is the only all-women regular season collegiate event to be aired by the Golf Channel, which broadcast 21 hours of live coverage and reruns.
Claisse, a senior at USC, picked up her first collegiate win. The four-year starter from Paris, France, shot a final round 70 (-1) to win by a shot over LSU’s Edit Hertzman.
Hertzman shot 67 (-4) for a total of 209 (-4), finishing just 1 stroke back from Claisse.
In team standings, No. 4 LSU shot 287 (+3) in the final round to post a 54-hole total of 858 (+6) to win by 4 over the Gamecocks.
No teams broke par in the third round on Wednesday.
No. 2 Wake Forest posted the round of the day with an even par 284. No. 3 Oregon, who made its tournament debut, also played well with a 1-over 285.
Established in 1981, Long Cove Club is widely known for its world-class Pete Dye Golf Course, state of the art sports center with tennis, pickleball and bocce ball and marina located on Broad Creek. It is currently ranked #12 in Golfweek’s Top 200 Residential Courses in the U.S.
