Society of Seniors opens Super Senior Golf Championship on Hilton Head

The Society of Seniors this week is hosting the third National Super Senior Golf Championship at the Long Cove Club on Hilton Head Island.

The event began Monday and runs through Thursday.

The Society of Seniors, founded in 1983 to promote competition among elite senior amateurs over age 65, has developed what has become “Golf’s greatest event for Super Seniors”, according to Amateurgolf.com.

Also invited were the Top 10 players on the SOS’ Player-of-the-Year rankings for Super Seniors, including 2021 SOS Player of the Year Robin Rubrecht of Newburg, Indiana.

Also participating are top players on Golfweek’s Super-Senior Points List, plus seven players from the World Amateur Golf‘s ranking. The include No. 1 ranked Doug Hanzel, Savannah, Georgia; Paul Simson, Raleigh, North Carolina (2021 National Super Senior Champion) and Chip Lutz, Jupiter, Florida (2020 National Super Senior Champion).
