New home of Lowcountry Golf Hall of Fame to host grand opening
The Lowcountry Golf Hall of Fame will formally open its new home Wednesday evening, welcoming the public to tour its new space in the Shops at Sea Pines Center.
Ceremonies begin at 5:30 p.m., with Hilton Head Island Mayor David Bennett and all five living inductees scheduled to be in attendance. The shrine, featuring artifacts and testimonials on its nine members, is located next to the Legacy of Golf museum.
Nominations recently closed for the hall’s third enshrinement class, which will add two more names to the roster next spring. A six-person panel will review the list of more than two dozen candidates, submitting a list of finalists to the full selection committee.
The new inductees will be announced shortly after New Year’s.
Cary Corbitt and Karen Ferree were added to the hall during ceremonies last April, joining the inaugural enshrinement class of Charles Fraser, Joe Fraser, Charlie Price, Jim Ferree, Tim Moss, Mike Harmon and Kevin King.
