Birdie flourish leads to share of 2nd for Hilton Head Island junior
Hilton Head Island’s Daniel Azallion birdied three of his final six holes to grab a share of second place at last weekend’s SCJGA Cheraw Fall Challenge, finishing four shots behind a red-hot finish from Inman’s Trent Phillips.
A bogey at Sunday’s 10th hole at Cheraw State Park Golf Course left Azallion at 2-over par for the tournament, but his closing flourish allowed him to move past four golfers in the final holes. He wound up carding a 3-under-par 69.
Phillips fired a closing 67 to pull away from the field, finishing at 5-under 139 for the weekend.
Matthew Campbell of Beaufort and Hilton Head Island’s Brooks Dyess were both part of a tie for 29th, posting totals of 12-over 156.
