Alexis Bennett’s departure leaves USCB seeking women’s golf coach
The search is on for a new women’s golf coach at USC Beaufort, following Alexis Bennett’s departure to become women’s coach at High Point in North Carolina.
The Sand Sharks were Sun Conference runners-up in two of Bennett’s three years leading the program, with last season’s squad finishing eighth at the NAIA Championship. Bennett was voted the league’s Coach of the Year following the season.
“It has been my distinct pleasure to serve at USCB the past three years,” Bennett said in a statement.
“I am so thankful to (athletics director) Quin Monahan for taking a chance on me and entrusting me with the task of raising the bar for USCB women’s golf. I believe we were able to do that, and I have no doubt the program will continue to trend in the right direction.”
Bennett’s successor will inherit a team with four returning starters, including NAIA All-American Franzi Knoetsch and all-conference player Vanessa Schloo.
“Coach Bennett has done an exceptional job for us these past three years,” Monahan said, “and we are thankful for the impact she has had on our women’s golf program.”
