USC Beaufort received the No. 2 seed in the Savannah regional of the NAIA tournament, as announced on Friday. The regional will be played Tuesday through May 20 at Historic Grayson Stadium in Savannah.
The top seed in the region is Campbellsville (Ky.), the No. 3 seed is Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.), the No. 4 seed is Taylor (Ind.) and the No. 5 seed is Point (Ga.). It will be a double-elimination format.
The Sand Sharks will open against Freed-Hardeman at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
USCB was an at-large selection into the field with a 43-12 overall record. With a 20-4 record, the Sand Sharks won the Sun Conference regular-season title, but fell short to Keiser (Fla.) in the conference tournament last weekend in Fort Myers, Fla.
Forty-five teams are spread across nine regional brackets of five teams each. The nine region champions will join host school Lewis-Clark State at the NAIA World Series from May 27-June 3 in Lewiston, Idaho.
