USCB runners break 3 school records at Jacksonville meet
Betsy Douglas broke her own USC-Beaufort record in the 800 meters and Maiya Cooper rewrote the mark in the 200 meters as the Sand Sharks rewrote three school records in all at the UNF Twilight meet in Jacksonville.
Douglas was clocked in 2:14.20 in the 800, hitting the “A” qualifying standard for the NAIA National Championships later this month. Cooper covered the 200 in 25.15 seconds.
Both also were part of the USCB women’s 4x400 relay that crossed the finish in 3:56.82, smashing the old mark by four seconds but falling just short of the NAIA “B” standard.
Brandon Gourdine, already qualified for nationals, tuned up with a third-place finish in the 110 hurdles (14.80), and Taylor Superior finished 10th in the high jump (1.52 meters).
