USCB golfer ties for 2nd at Sun Conference tournament; team places 6th

USC-Beaufort senior Brad Curren fired a 1-under-par 71 Tuesday to grab a share of second on the final day of the Sun Conference men’s golf championship at Dade City, Fla.

Curren completed 54 holes at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club with a total of 2-under 214, six shots behind medalist Peter French of Johnson & Wales. French and Current were the only golfers to shoot par or better in each round.

The Sand Sharks placed sixth as a team, though Tuesday’s score of 2-under 286 was second best of any team in the final round. Johnson & Wales also claimed the team title, nine shots better than Keiser.

USCB freshman Riley Schank completed a strong comeback from an opening 83, following with rounds of 72-70 to move into a share of 18th among individuals. Senior Kirk Mitchell tied for 24th.
