USC Beaufort’s Thomas Estopare was named the Sun Conference Baseball Player of the Week on Monday in voting by the league’s sports information directors.

Estopare played a key role in leading the Sand Sharks to a three-game sweep of Sun Conference rival Thomas over the weekend, going 8-for-13 with three doubles, a triple, seven RBIs and three runs scored. The junior center fielder from Imperial, Mo., also drew three walks and stole two bases.

Estopare led USCB’s offense in a 9-2 win in Friday’s series opener, going 4-for-5 with a pair of doubles, a triple, and four RBIs. He hit two shots off the wall and finished a home run shy of hitting for the cycle.

In the second game of the series, Estopare was 3-for-5 with a double, a stolen base, three RBIs, and two runs in a 12-3 victory. The Night Hawks chose to take the bat out of his hands in the finale, as he went 1-for-3 with three walks, including an intentional pass to load the bases in USCB’s three-run rally in the ninth inning.

Estopare leads the Sand Sharks in batting (.417), slugging (.667) and on-base percentage (.588) and is tied for the team lead in stolen bases (5). He has four doubles, a triple, eight RBIs and eight walks.
