USC Beaufort takes baseball series opener from Truett-McConnell

Kal Davis had two hits and two RBIS and John Gara and Forrest Kirsch (1-0) combined for the shutout on Friday as USC Beaufort (2-1) won at Truett-McConnell (Ga.).

Chris Carden took the loss for the Bears (0-0).

Max Balter added three hits and an RBI for the Sand Sharks, who are now 4-0 all-time against Truett-McConnell.

The teams will play a noon doubleheader on Saturday. USC Beaufort can win its first series of the season with a win.
