Sand Sharks finish 8th at Embry-Riddle tournament
The USC Beaufort men's golf team was unable to make up any ground Tuesday, finishing eighth at the Embry-Riddle Eagle Invitational at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
The Sand Sharks posted a team score of 305 in the final round to finish the 54-hole event at 907, 18 shots behind champion Coastal Georgia, which won a team playoff with SCAD Savannah to claim the title.
William Woods (Mo.) finished third at 896, followed by Lubbock Christian and Embry-Riddle at 897 and Northwood (Texas) and Marian (Ind.) at 899.
Senior Travis Cashion (74-75-79--228) and freshman Cory Cottrell (75-76-77--228) were USCB's top finishers in a tie for 24th, followed by sophomore Andrew McCullough (78-76-77--231) and senior Tyler Jacobs (73-85-73--231) in a tie for 30th. Junior Brian Langley (81-75-78--234) rounded out the lineup in a tie for 43rd.
The Sand Sharks' next tournament will be the Warner University Spring Major from April 14-16 at Sun 'N' Lake Golf Club in Sebring, Fla.
