USC Beaufort looking for new baseball coach
The USC Beaufort Athletic Department announced Wednesday that baseball coach Jeremy Christian is leaving the program.
Christian has been the Sand Sharks coach since 2017 and won 80 games during the tenure. USC Beaufort won 32 games in 2017 and a berth in the Sun Conference tournament.
USC Beaufort was 6-11 this year before the season ended because of the coronavirus pandemic.
“While I’m proud of our program and thankful for the culture Coach Jeremy Christian built, I’m excited to begin this new chapter. Our expectation is that we’ll maintain and build upon the vision and standards that have been set, while contending for titles at both the conference and national level,” USC Beaufort Athletics Director Quin Monahan said in a release.
“I have the absolute highest opinion of Jeremy and am thankful for his commitment to USCB baseball for these last three-and-a-half years. I wish he and his family the best as they move forward.”
Christian was the third coach in school history. He came to USC Beaufort after leading Point University to a spot in the NAIA baseball tournament.
Several single-game records were broken under Christian, including runs scored (23), RBIs in a game (21), hits (22), stolen bases (11), strikeouts (17) and home runs (4).
Under Christian, four players - Justin Kortessis, Mike Biasello, Zac Burke and Chris Vazquez - went on to play professional baseball.
