One-hitter sends USCB packing from Sun Conference baseball tournament
Keiser ace Daniel Garmendia fired a one-hitter at USC Beaufort, ushering the Sand Sharks out of the Sun Conference baseball tournament with a 4-0 shutout in a Saturday elimination game.
Garmendia, named the league's Pitcher of the Year before the tournament, struck out seven and walked five. Kal Davis managed the Sand Sharks' only hit with a first-inning single, and only two USCB runners managed to reach second base.
Zack Saldivar, Brad Myott, Tivon Faneyte and Miguel Casanueva each finished with two hits for Keiser, combining for three runs scored and three driven in.
The Sand Sharks finished with a 32-22 record, their sixth 30-win season in the program's nine years of competition.
