South Carolina football has a new Lowcountry radio locale for 2016, with a stronger signal.
The Gamecocks will be heard this season on Apex Media’s EasyFM, with the full game-day package starting three hours before kickoff and carrying through to the postgame wrapup. The season begins Sept. 1 when the Gamecocks travel to Vanderbilt for a Thursday night game.
EasyFM is heard at 106.5 in the Hilton Head/Bluffton area and 99.1 in Beaufort and other northern points.
Recent USC seasons had been carried on a low-power Beaufort outlet that didn’t always reach parts of the county.
“We’re proud to bring Gamecocks football to the entire Beaufort County market,” Apex general manager Mike Buxser said.
EasyFM also will carry coach Will Muschamp’s weekly “Carolina Calls” talk show, which will air at 7 p.m. Thursdays once the season starts. Two preseason editions are scheduled for Aug. 24 and Aug. 30 before settling into Thursdays.
