South Carolina basketball is adding a commitment from a Southeastern Conference school.

Texas’ Camden Heide is committing to Lamont Paris and the Gamecocks, Draft Express’ Jonathan Givony reported Wednesday night.

The 6-foot-7 Heide is the Gamecocks’ commit from the transfer portal, joining George Mason’s Kory Mincy. Auburn was interested in Heide and 247Sports reported that he was supposed to visit the Tigers this weekend.

USC is Heide’s third school. He was at Purdue for three seasons (redshirting his freshman year) before transferring to the Longhorns last year.

In his lone season with Texas, he averaged 5.9 points and 2.7 rebounds and shot 45.4 percent from three-point range. He is a career 43.2 percent three-point shooter.

Heide will have one season of eligibility left. He was a top-150 recruit nationally coming out of Wasatch Academy (Utah), where he played his senior year in high school.

Heide has appeared in 110 games in his college career, including 13 NCAA Tournament contests. He played 15 minutes and scored two points in Purdue’s 2024 National Championship game loss to UConn.

The Gamecocks lost seven players to the transfer portal and five players to graduation, so coach Lamont Paris and his staff will be busy adding players to the roster. South Carolina has only one high school signee in four-star Marcus Johnson. The Gamecocks also will return Grant Polk, Hayden Assemian and Eli Sparkman.

The Gamecocks went 13-19 this season and lost in the first round of the Southeastern Conference Tournament.
