Nyck Harbor’s South Carolina jersey number revealed
South Carolina’s official football roster has been updated for the 2023 season, a little more than two weeks ahead of the team’s first official practice.
Five-star freshman wide receiver Nyck Harbor will wear No. 8 for the Gamecocks. Harbor wore No. 7 in high school but wore No. 8 in the Under Armour All-American Game. He’ll have to wait at least one season if he wants to wear 7 in college. (Quarterback Spencer Rattler wears No. 7 for USC.)
At 6-5 and 241 pounds, Harbor is the tallest receiver on the roster by an inch and the heaviest by 14 pounds.
South Carolina has five freshmen at the receiver spot. Harbor is joined by CJ Adams (No. 85), Elijah Caldwell (No. 14), Kelton Henderson (No. 83) and Tyshawn Russell (No. 21).
Among the freshmen who enrolled this summer are running back Djay Braswell, who will wear No. 23; tight end Kamron Sandlin (No. 33); and offensive lineman Tree Babalade (No. 51).
Note: Running back Dante Miller is not listed on the Gamecocks’ new roster. Miller, a graduate transfer from Columbia University, had appealed for an extra year of eligibility in college. He appeared in six games during his time at South Carolina, running for 38 yards on six carries. That included a 29-yard rush in the Sept. 29 win over S.C. State.
