South Carolina has announced the contingent it will bring to SEC media days next week in Atlanta.

Head coach Shane Beamer will be accompanied by receiver Dakereon Joyner, offensive lineman Jovaughn Gwyn and defensive lineman Zacch Pickens.

The Gamecocks will begin their media rotations at 1 p.m. on July 19.

Joyner finished last year as the hero of South Carolina’s 38-21 romp of North Carolina in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl. The North Charleston product completed all nine of his passes for 160 yards and a touchdown, while adding another 64 yards rushing on 10 carries.

“What I say to other people: Never give up on your dreams,” Joyner said after his performance netted him bowl MVP honors. “If you’ve ever got something out there that you want to get, keep going. Never give up. Adversity is going to come, but it’s how you overcome it.”

Pickens enters his fourth year with the program after arriving as a five-star recruit in the 2018 class. The ex-T.L. Hanna standout has been a stalwart along the Gamecocks’ defensive line during his tenure and is seen as a possible first round pick heading into next season.

Gwyn is among the most experienced players returning for South Carolina on an offensive line that struggled throughout the bulk of last season. He’s started 34 consecutive games heading into the 2022 season and was a team captain last fall.
