South Carolina adds commitment from impact transfer receiver from Arkansas State
South Carolina has landed another impact offensive playmaker.
USC received a commitment from Arkansas State receiver Cory Rucker on Saturday afternoon. Rucker was in Columbia early last week.
The Mississippi native was largely productive during his time with the Red Wolves, finishing his time in Jonesboro, Arkansas with 1,279 yards receiving and 14 touchdowns despite inconsistent quarterback play.
Rucker’s biggest moment at ASU came in a 310-yard, four-touchdown effort on nine receptions against UL-Monroe in the final game of the 2020 season.
The former three-star recruit joins a South Carolina receiver room that is suddenly stocked with talent. Leading receiver Josh Vann is back in the fold after flirting with the NFL Draft. USC also added James Madison standout Antwane “Juice” Wells Jr. via the transfer portal.
South Carolina will also bring back Dakereon Joyner, Xavier Legette, Ahmarean Brown, E.J. Jenkins and do-it-all tight end/wide back Jaheim Bell.
USC finished its first season under head coach Shane Beamer with a 7-6 record, including a win over North Carolina in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl.
South Carolina opened spring practice on March 15.
