South Carolina baseball released its full 2022 schedule Monday, adding non-conference opponents to its 30-game Southeastern Conference slate announced in September.

Highlights of the Gamecocks’ non-conference schedule include a weekend series with Texas from March 11-13 at Founders Park in Columbia, S.C. and its yearly series with rival Clemson March 6-8.

The Longhorns finished at third place in last year’s College World Series, losing to the eventual champion Mississippi State Bulldogs on a walk-off RBI single. Texas went 50-17 in 2021, totaling 50 wins for the first time since 2010.

South Carolina opens 2021 with a three-game series against UNC Greensboro from Feb. 18-20. The Gamecocks have also scheduled a midweek home game against Winthrop (Feb. 22) and a home series against George Washington (Feb. 25-27) for the month of February.

USC’s March slate begins with a game at Charlotte’s Truist Field against Appalachian State on March 1. The Gamecocks return to Founders Park for their first game against Clemson on March 4, play at the Columbia Fireflies’ Segra Park on March 5 and travel to Clemson to finish out the series on March 6.

South Carolina will then play a midweek game at Founders Park against Xavier on March 8 before the Texas home series that weekend.

The Gamecocks start SEC action in Knoxville from March 18-21, facing 2021 College World Series participant Tennessee. USC’s home conference slate starts with a series against last year’s College World Series runner-up Vanderbilt in a Thursday-Saturday series from March 24-26 at Founders Park.

South Carolina’s conference schedule includes four more home series against Georgia (April 8-10), Ole Miss (April 14-16), Alabama (April 28-30) and Kentucky (May 13-15). The Gamecocks will travel for matchups against Missouri (April 1-3), Auburn (April 22-24), Texas A&M (May 6-8) and Florida (May 19-21).

South Carolina scheduled nine midweek games throughout its SEC slate, with home games against Gardner-Webb (March 15), Presbyterian (March 29), North Florida (April 12), North Carolina A&T (May 4), USC Upstate (May 10) and Charlotte (May 17) meeting the Gamecocks at Founders Park.

USC travels to The Citadel (March 22) and Winthrop (April 20) and plays a second game in Charlotte against North Carolina on April 5.

In 2021, South Carolina went 34-23 overall and 16-14 in SEC play. Head coach Mark Kingston, in his fifth season with the Gamecocks, hired three new assistant coaches for the 2022 season, including pitching coach Justin Parker, recruiting coordinator Chad Caillet and former Gamecock Scott Wingo.
