Clemson transfer QB Chase Brice’s first official visit set. And it’s to an ACC school

Former Clemson quarterback Chase Brice has set up his first visit as he searches for his next home.

Brice told The State on Wednesday afternoon that he will take an official visit to Duke this weekend. The Georgia native passed for 581 yards and four touchdowns, with one interception in 2019, while completing 59 percent of his passes.

Brice served as the backup to All-ACC QB Trevor Lawrence each of the past two years. He is set to graduate in May and will have two years of eligibility remaining.

He made the decision to transfer from Clemson earlier this month in search of more playing time.

Brice was rated as a three-star prospect and the No. 17 pro-style quarterback in the country by the 247Sports Composite rankings when he came out of high school as a part of the class of 2017. He chose the Tigers over offers from Boston College, Cal, Miami, Louisville and others out of high school.

Duke being a potential landing spot for the 6-foot-2, 230-pound quarterback makes sense for both sides.

The Blue Devils have an opening at quarterback with Quentin Harris graduating, and Brice would have an opportunity to learn from a coach who excels at developing quarterbacks in Duke’s David Cutcliffe.

Duke finished 5-7 last season, a year after going 8-5 in 2018.
