Former Hilton Head Prep student in center of Twitter storm about FSU shooting

Hilton Head Prep graduate and University of Alabama student Marisa Martin, a student reporter for ESPNU’s Campus Connection, posted a Jameis Winston-related joke on her Twitter account Wednesday night following news of a shooting on the campus of Florida State University. After receiving heavy criticism on Twitter, Martin defended herself in several posts before her account was deleted early Thursday morning.

Through the Campus Connection Twitter account, Martin asserted the initial posts were not hers and that her account had been hacked. According to ESPN, Martin is not an ESPN employee and is not paid.
