Dusty May Receiving Interest for NBA Jobs Amid Unsigned Michigan Contract
Following Michigan’s national championship winning April, Wolverines athletic director Warde Manuel announced that the school agreed to a new contract with head coach Dusty May.
May was connected to the North Carolina opening before the Tar Heels hired former NBA head coach Michael Malone.
However, May has yet to sign his contract extension with Michigan.
“I haven’t signed,” May said on Wednesday, via 247Sports. “Warde and I agreed to the terms and the structure, and then after that, there’s still some I’s to dot and T’s to cross… I don’t know when this will get signed. I think it’s whenever things get turned back. But yeah, we’ve agreed to the terms. There’s no second-guessing or second thoughts.”

While the contract remains unsigned, May is receiving interest from multiple NBA teams this spring, per Front Office Sports.
The Orlando Magic, who fired Jamahl Mosley on Monday, has “mutual interest” with May. May is also expected to be a target for the Golden State Warriors if Steve Kerr does not return for next season.
May told Front Office Sports that his attention has been on building Michigan’s roster for next season, not on potential offers from the NBA.
"I mean obviously we all think about that as younger coaches," May said. "But no it's not something…our full attention has been on building this roster and plans of hopefully competing for a championship again next year."
The opportunity to coach the Warriors or Magic might be too much for May to ignore. The Warriors have a talented roster that made the Play-In Tournament, but could use a new coach with a fresh ideas to boost the team in a talented Western Conference.
The Magic have lost in the first round for three consecutive seasons. May would have a star player in Paolo Banchero to work with, though Orlando needs to make moves this offseason to make the Magic a threat in the Eastern Conference.
