Pistons Fans Troll Magic With Angel Reese Chant in Game 7 Win

The Detroit Pistons had their home arena rocking as they surged to a double-digit lead going into halftime, and rode that all the way through the second half to a huge Game 7 win.

Cade Cunningham scored 32 points to go with 12 assists, while teammate Tobias Harris chipped in 30 points and nine rebounds. Jalen Duren also powered his team in the paint with an impressive 15-point, 15-rebound performance that this Pistons team needed.

A 51 percent field goal shooting performance featured the Pistons connecting on 16-of-33 three-pointers, while limiting the visiting Orlando Magic to 10-of-30 three-pointers and a 41 percent overall shooting percentage.

And with their team on the verge of ousting Paolo Banchero and his No. 8-seeded Magic, Pistons fans unloaded with a merciless chant to roast one of Orlando’s biggest recent fans.

“Angel Reese, Angel Reese,” rang out throughout the arena, as fans repeatedly chanted the name of the famous WNBA star. Reese famously showed her fandom throughout this series, drawing attention to a highlight play by one of the Magic players against the Pistons.

Specifically, Reese went on her Instagram Story after Orlando won an earlier game in the series to celebrate boyfriend Wendell Carter Jr.’s dunk on her ex, Jalen Duren.

While she may have simply been applauding the play she saw, some fans took it as her trolling or throwing shade at the Pistons star.

It seemed to give a lot of Pistons fans fuel for the fire, to start up those ferocious chants on Sunday afternoon, letting Reese and her boyfriend hear it as Orlando was getting eliminated after holding a 3-1 series lead.

Her ex, Duren, was a significant reason that the Pistons completed their comeback with a huge victory on Sunday.

It was also a painful reminder that the Magic couldn’t get it done earlier in the series, or in the crucial Game 7 when it mattered most. Carter Jr. finished with 13 points, five rebounds, and two assists in a disappointing loss after his team seemed on the verge of a shocking first-round upset.

While Carter Jr. and Orlando are no longer playing, Reese’s next basketball season is just around the corner. After struggling with the Chicago Sky and expressing frustration late last season, she’s playing for a brand-new team, the Atlanta Dream.

That gives her a fresh start with new teammates and potentially a stronger chance of making her first-ever postseason appearance since joining the WNBA a few years ago.
