Report: Dianna Russini Unsure About Career After Mike Vrabel Scandal

NFL insider Dianna Russini has found herself in a pretty messy situation this offseason.

On April 7, Page Six shared photos of Russini spending time at a hotel with New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel. Although she said there were multiple people on her trip to Arizona, she reportedly never provided sufficient evidence.

Instead of letting The Athletic's investigation play out, Russini resigned from her position as a reporter.

"In the days that followed, unfortunately, commentators in various media have engaged in self-feeding speculation that is simply unmoored from the facts," Russini said in her resignation latter. "Moreover, this media frenzy is hurtling forward without regard for the review process The Athletic is trying to complete. It continues to escalate, fueled by repeated leaks, and I have no interest in submitting to a public inquiry that has already caused far more damage than I am willing to accept. Rather than allowing this to continue, I have decided to step aside now - before my current contract expires on June 30. I do so not because I accept the narrative that has been constructed around this episode, but because I refuse to lend it further oxygen or to let it define me or my career."

A little over a week after Russini resigned from The Athletic, photos of her and Vrabel from March 2020 were released by Page Six. This time around, she was seen getting close to the veteran coach at a bar in New York City.

According to Daily Mail, Russini is "a bit shellshocked" by how quickly this situation has blown up over the past three weeks.

As for her career as a reporter, Russini is unclear what the next step is at this time.

"Dianna is a bit shellshocked by it all and has not really shown her hand in all of this, as it has been a very intense situation that she is still trying to figure out and feel out," the report from Daily Mail stated. "She's neither here nor there right now as the dust hasn't settled one bit. Nobody including herself knows what the next move for her will be. One thing she is mainly focusing on is being a mom and to protect her kids through all of this madness."

Is Dianna Russini's career as a reporter over?

Barstool Sports personality Big Cat was recently asked about Russini's situation during an interview with Front Office Sports. He's convinced the former ESPN reporter could redeem herself.

"I don't know if I wouldn't hire her, but I don't know if she'd want to work with us since we made some jokes," Big Cat said. "It sucks that she had to leave her job – I think a lot of it was her own doing. But we're in a time where you can be independent. She can start a Substack, she can start a podcast. If you're someone who has an audience or can break news, people will follow that. There's a second act somewhere for her. I would be shocked if that was it for her."

Only time will tell if Russini regains the NFL world's trust.
