Rory McIlroy, current No. 3 golfer in the world, agrees to play at this year’s Heritage

Rory McIlroy, the current No. 3 player in the world rankings, will compete in this year’s RBC Heritage golf tournament, the organization announced Thursday.

He will be joined by Patrick Cantlay, Max Homa, Xander Schauffele and Will Zalatoris. Defending champion Jordan Spieth also has agreed to compete in this year’s event.

McIlroy has 23 career wins on the PGA Tour, including the U.S. Open, PGA Championship and The Open Championship. The 33-year-old from Northern Ireland has competed at Harbour Town twice, in 2009 and again in 2020, during the Covid-19 shortened season.

The 55th annual RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing will be April 10-16 at the famed Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island. This year’s tournament has been selected by the PGA Tour as a designated event.
