John Paul II gets first 11-man victory; Ridgeland-Hardeeville edges Thomas Heyward

Zack Doe rushed for 305 yards and four touchdowns in helping John Paul II defeat Hilton Head Christian Academy, 26-20, in double overtime on Friday.

It was John Paul II’s first win as an 11-man program. Doe, who played at Hilton Head Academy last year, scored the game-winning touchdown on a 10-yard run.

Daniel Harrington had a strong game for HHCA in the loss. He completed 15 of 23 passes for 232 yards and three touchdowns and ran for 105 yards.

John Burke was on the receiving end of two of Harrington’s passes for touchdowns and caught five passes for 124 yards on 5 receptions. Brennan Studenc caught 5 passes for 65 yards and one touchdown.

Ridgeland-Hardeeville 12,

Thomas Heyward 8

Jabril Williams ran for two touchdowns, including the game-winner with 3:24 left in R-H’s victory.

St John’s 51,

Beaufort Academy 8

Quarterback Dawson Coleman threw for 168 yards in the loss for Beaufort Academy.

DaiJion Galloway had 74 yards receiving to lead Beaufort Academy, and Jaxon Spratling ran for the team’s score. Edward McCormick led the team with 15 tackles.

Swansea 27,

Battery Creek 13

Trey Chance and Gabe Singleton each had touchdown runs for Battery Creek in the loss to the Tigers.

Orangeburg Prep 46,

Hilton Head Prep 7

Bill Metts rushed for 188 yards and four touchdowns for Orangeburg Prep.

OP finished with 350 yards rushing.

Quarterback Stone McDonald had 199 yards total offense, including a 66-yard touchdown run, in the loss for Hilton Head Prep.

Hanahan 27,

May River 8

Jake Ward, Gale Ball and Quincy Mitchell each had touchdown runs to help Hanahan over May River.

Donovin Ling accounted for May River’s lone touchdown. May River also had a safety in the first quarter to take a 2-0 lead.
