One dead after single-car crash in Horry County. Here’s what happened

A single-vehicle crash in Horry County led to a fatality on Thursday night.

Brandie Perez, 46, of Myrtle Beach, died when she lost control of her car while driving on Freewoods Road, according to an email from Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard.

The crash happened at about 9:55 p.m. Thursday on Freewoods Road near Avery Drive, according to an email from the South Carolina Highway Patrol. The crash involved one car, a 2025 Chevrolet SUV. Perez, the driver of the SUV, died.

The Chevrolet was traveling north on Freewoods Road when it ran off the right side of the road, struck a ditch, and turned over. Horry County Fire Rescue was dispatched just after 10 p.m. to the scene of the crash, according to a Facebook post.

No further information has been released. SCHP is investigating the crash.
