Tropical storm Nigel became a Category 1 hurricane on Monday

As per the National Hurricane Center's 11 pm Monday update, Nigel has become a Category 1 hurricane with sustained winds of 85 mph after intensifying from a tropical storm.
Category 1 Hurricane Nigel is 765 miles east-southeast of Bermuda, with maximum sustained wind of 85 mph. It’s moving 12 mph to the northwest.
"Nigel is forecast to turn northward late Tuesday, and then accelerate northeastward through the rest of the week." forecasters noted. "Additional strengthening is forecast during the next day or so." They also said "Gradual weakening is expected to begin by late Wednesday."
HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND:
SURF: Swells generated by Nigel are expected to reach Bermuda on Tuesday. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
