Rants & Raves: Curt Schilling and gay waitress

On Curt Schilling fired from his job at ESPN for comments about transgendered people:

Ahhhh, but if he would have been bashing Christians or suggesting white, heterosexual people suck, then I’m sure everything would have been fine over at ESPN. Political correctness is destroying this country. What did Schilling say that wasn’t true?

You guys realize that the First Amendment only protects against government infringement on free speech?

Liberal free speech is protected. If the speech is not pandering to a leftist liberal agenda, it isn’t protected.

It comes down to, and many people forget this, he was an employee and a representative of his company even if he wasn’t working at the time. It’s not about being PC or freedom of speech, it’s about being respectful. The UK has just put out a warning to its citizens about traveling to the USA. This is not a good thing.

The United States of offended people.

ESPN’s loss. He is an excellent analyst.

FOX Sports here he comes. He will fit right in.

It comes down to if you don’t agree you’re an awful human being!

I used to be Schilling fan, but he’s a complete loudmouth these days.

It’s past the time to ban “political correctness” garbage in America and all over the world! This man should fight back and and all those who were involved in unconstitutionally firing him for rightfully practicing his freedom of speech should be fined, fired and incarcerated! “Political correctness” is not the law of the land! Liberalism is a treasonous and dangerous political ideology. Prison time is the cure!

You clearly do not understand how free speech works. He can say whatever he wants and not be held accountable legally but you sure as heck can be fired from your job for it.

He can be fired but he also can and does have a place to sue for wrongful termination. There are limits to what a company can restrict its employees from saying on a personal level.

Please look up the freedom of speech. This is not the government inhibiting his free speech.

ESPN are nothing more than discriminatory bigots.

On a gay waitress who received a Bible verse as a tip:

First we need some answers to these questions: When I burn a bull on the altar as a sacrifice, I know it creates a pleasing odor for the Lord — Lev.1:9. The problem is my neighbors. They claim the odor is not pleasing to them. Should I smite them?

Reprehensible. There’s no reason why we cannot be kind to one another and treat each other like human beings.

If they wanna take the Bible literally, that specific verse said “man.”

Wasn’t Leviticus specifically for the Pharisees and not normal folks? Hell, I’m gonna burn for eternity for all the shrimp I eat anyway ... I’m from the Lowcountry after all.

So? Some people are idiots. It’s always been that way and always will — cheapskates find a way to be a cheapskate.

And those who hate more than likely do not have a relationship with Christ.

I would’ve just went ahead and assumed she meant to leave a $20 tip.

It’s not the religion that makes people hate it’s how they have been raised.

The lady should have asked herself, “What would Jesus do?”

Who says they hate?

How did they know she was gay?
