Rants & Raves: Coyotes in Beaufort County, circle and our Idol
On recent coyote sightings in the area:
They are harmless if you leave them alone. I saw one at Bluffton Parkway and 170 last week. The worst thing that could happen is an outdoor cat may go missing.
Stephanie Rossi
This world is so out of touch with nature that we don’t even know what to do when we see a truly wild animal. Only a matter of time before we start shooting them like fish in a barrel as our population continues to expand.
Jen Howard
Stop building! We have plenty of empty buildings and homes. Put them to use.
Denise Chufo Gardner
I’m in Pooler and have been hearing them in the woods!
Crista Westerfield
Thought it was just me seeing them around Buckwalter area.
Patrick Hechmer
I saw one down Sawmill Creek Road in the last week.
Jenn Farese
Saw a coyote by Wendy’s/Parker’s by Pritchardville Elementary.
Jordan Martin
I have heard them.
Karen McKivergan
They have always been here. We also have big wild cats, too. Leave them alone.
Gabrielle Jeffries
My suggestion to people - just leave the damn animals alone. Keep your pets and children in your yard and let the wild animals live their lives, period.

On a fatal shooting on Hilton Head Island:
Helicopter was just flying around Palmetto Bay Road.
Ryan Alpaugh
I better move back to New York.
Michael Kelly
Why has the crime increased on the island?
Carol Cain
Hilton Head is gonna be Savannah Jr.
Amanda Denise
Good lord.

On USC head football coach Will Muschamp’s new home on Lake Murray:
Sure hope he is worth $2 million for that house. Hope he can improve USC or else it’ll be back on the market quicker than he can say ‘Merry Christmas.’ Good luck, hope you can stay longer than the season. USC is counting on ya.
Amanda Denise
I have been in that house and it is amazing!
Kirb Pea
Hope he is renting.

On Bluffton High’s Lee Jean performing a duet with Daughtry on “American Idol”:
He did a great job. Not a fan of the duet. I would have liked to see him sing solo. But I am also not a Daughtry fan. But Lee did an awesome job with the song. How exciting for him. Proud to live in a county where we could possibly have two American Idols. That boy has talent and will definitely go places. Way to make B-town proud, Lee.
Mistee Mcclain
Great job! We are rooting for you. Very talented and poised young man. So nice to see all the young talent.
Deborah Follenius
Awesome job! Loved the duet and that Lee stayed strong!
Linda Keller
Lee is making Bluffton proud.
Donna Underwood
Enjoy the ride Lee, you are doing great!
Ken Boynton
Hope you go far young man. Be Bluffton strong!

On changes coming to a Bluffton traffic circle:
Now at least suicide circle will be beautiful. Right lanes going into circle should be right-turn only. People on the inside lane exiting circle will continue to be T-boned by right-laners who don’t yield! Waste of money.
Linda Keller
It’s really not that hard to figure out. The markings on the road tell you which lane you need to be in to get to where you are trying to go.
Ryan Magee
$15,000 to put trees and other things in the circle that will need continual upkeep. Why would you sub this out, and waste more money? Doesn’t Bluffton have crews that cut and maintain town property? These guys are capable of planting trees and plants.
