If you are a true mom for liberty, take this action for SC public schools | Opinion
It is no secret that our public education institutions are under attack.
Superintendents are being usurped from their positions.
School board meetings have turned into yelling matches and arguments instead of meetings of collaboration and compromise.
Instead of arguing and politically dividing our educational institutions, the people we elect to public offices should be actively trying to fill vacant positions that are needed for our schools to run effectively and efficiently; however, these paramount issues are being drowned out by a movement to ban books and sideline or fire leaders who are trying to bring order to chaos.
The Moms for Liberty take credit for these disruptions like terrorists after a terror attack.
They commit these actions under the guise of fighting for liberty.
The Moms for Liberty claim to: stand against overreach and intimidation tactics, promote teaching the principles of liberty and activate liberty-minded individuals to serve in elected positions.
The actions of this group reflect the opposite of what they claim to stand for.
Do the people in this organization know the meaning of the word “liberty”?
The Moms for Liberty are on a crusade to ban books.
They are demanding that the books that they have deemed inappropriate should be removed from libraries. They claim that the books they are trying to remove from public libraries have sexual content and promote alternate lifestyles.
I am a mom of two kids, so I understand their feelings about this content, but what they are doing is the opposite of what they want us to believe they stand for, which is liberty.
The Moms for Liberty are actively working to elect government officials who will enact their oppressive policies on American citizens who are not members of their organization.
The Moms for Liberty are forcing their feelings, their beliefs, and their perceptions on us.
This is not liberty.
The Moms for Liberty are stripping other moms of their right to parent.
It is my right as a parent to determine what is appropriate for my kids.
As a true mom for liberty, I believe in the freedom of choice.
All parents should have the right to decide what books are appropriate and inappropriate for their children. This decision should not be based on the feelings, beliefs and perceptions of one group.
If you are a true mom for liberty, it is time to activate your voice.
A loud minority of voices has controlled the narrative, but it is high time that the true moms for liberty stand up and change the narrative.
Our children need us to work together to fill vacant positions so they have qualified teachers in their classrooms and enough bus drivers so they do not have to wait an hour and a half to go home after dismissal.
Our children need us to work together to create an educational environment that is conducive to 21st-century learning.
The focus on removing books from public spaces, also known as book bans, and running school boards as an authoritarian institution aimed to promote chaos and dysfunction should no longer be tolerated.
If you are a true mom for liberty, join with me to ensure our voices are heard.
