Letter: Why I will not support Trump
A recent letter writer stated his reasons for going with Donald Trump. I cannot. His narcissism and misogyny deeply offend me. It is not a question of party or platform, but rather the man himself.
The positions that he has espoused and then reversed himself and then claimed that it was only “sarcastic” makes me question his fitness to be president of the United States.
Early in his campaign, referring to John McCain, who had spent 5 1/2 years as a POW, he said, “He was not a war hero. I like people who weren’t captured.”
He needs no help. Not family, not the people, and not the Almighty. For as he has stated, “I am your voice, I alone can fix it.”
He would ban all of the Muslim faith from entering the United States. This ignores the nearly 6,000 Muslim members of the U.S. armed forces.
He would build a wall and have Mexico pay for it. He would deport more than 11 million immigrants who are here illegally. I would like to see the plan.
He might show his tax returns (as every candidate has in the last 50 years) someday.
His draft deferments, his multiple marriages, his many bankruptcies all uniquely qualify him to remain in the construction business.
Maybe character analysis has compelled so many Republican leaders not to jump on his bandwagon.
